Description
LOON is a gorgeous example of her class. Single Yanmar 440hp diesel engine (with less than 400 hours!) with bow and new stern thruster makes docking and close quarters maneuvering a cinch. New Garmin electronics are a nice touch as is the new full-beam transom settee with teak ladderback (original factory spec.) with a removable section by way of the transom door. New Isinglass curtains and cover for the helm, companionway and dash have the boat looking fresh.
The MJM 34 is a versatile, well-designed and executed boat with many thoughtful and practical touches (front opening windshield panels, twin Stidd chairs), with fantastic storage and access to machinery. She has great on-deck seating with room for a crowd and a nice interior for overnights and long weekends, featuring a big head with ensuite shower and a best-in-class galley with a large under-the-counter reefer and freezer. With a 440HP Yanmar, LOON will cruise at 24 knots with comfort.
The topsides were recently painted with Awlgrip in Dark Green and look great. She has a gold cove stripe on the hull and a single off-white boot stripe to match the gel coat on the deck. LOON is clean and well maintained, in the water and ready to go!
The well laid out bridge deck features two large settees with access beneath to huge storage areas and equipment. The sole lifts up for excellent access to the engine. Forward are two Stidd chairs port and starboard. There is a chart desk/nav pod to port with large drawer storage beneath. The large companionway has bi-fold teak louvered doors and solid teak folding hatch. The helm is ergonomic with great sight lines. The forward part of the bridge area is protected by two fixed windows and two large Isinglass panels on each side may be rolled up or removed all together. Along with three-piece stern curtains, the whole area can be fully enclosed or opened up. Front-opening glass panels in the windshield and overhead hatches in the hardtop provide plenty of additional ventilation as desired. A bi-fold teak table is both beautiful and practical.
The cockpit is only a slight step down from the bridge deck and features a full-beam transom settee with removable section for the transom door. Lockers in the sole provide access to storage and running gear. Built-in steps make getting in and out of the cockpit onto the dock or side decks easy.
The interior features a galley to port and large head with ensuite shower to starboard. Forward of that to starboard is a large locker with shelf above and three large drawers beneath. The settee forward is huge and comfortable, with a big cherry table that can be lowered to convert to a berth. Lighting and ventilation are excellent.
